Phaedra Haywood reports on an $8M settlement agreed to between the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and nine New Mexico hospitals (including CHRISTUS St. Vincent Hospital) and their governing counties. None of the counties or hospitals admitted to any wrongdoing. Feds recover indigent-care funds in deal with state
The gist of the complaint by CMS is that improper arrangements were made between the counties and the hospitals in order to maximize the amount of federal matching grants the hospitals received under the Sole Community Provider (SCP) program.
